Even though I am not at all an expert on classical music, I have heard enough to know what I like and what I do not like as much. One of the composers whose works appeal the most to me is Antonín Dvořák, the Czech composer and pianist who is probably best known for his 9th and last symphony, often dubbed ‘From The New World’. At the moment, I prefer his 8th, though, but wouldn’t it be great to pick a proper personal favourite by giving all of his symphonies the attention they deserve? That implies listening to them often enough to be able to discern between the symphonies and maybe even the individual parts upon hearing a sample. Not too easy for someone who hasn’t had any training in classical music..
